Boerewors. A truly South African product. An integral part of South African, Namibian and Zimbabwean braais!
Traditionally made from coarsely minced beef. Lamb or goat can also be used. Richly spiced coriander, black pepper, nutmeg, cloves and allspice. Boerewors normally contains up to 30% fat. This keeps the wors moist when fried, grilled, or braaied. Salt and vinegar acts as a natural preservative. Normally formed into a coil. Served with ‘pap’ and chakalaka, or rice.
Preparation of boerewors
A favourite dish at braais. Grilled, roasted, or pan-fried wors is also an option.
